So, about a month ago my ambitious twin brother asked me if I'd drive from Halifax to Vancouver with him to watch the greatest sporting event in the world, the Winter Olympic Games. Without much thought or hesitation I answered 'yes.' Little did I know, a month later I would be sitting here writing this blog in preparation for our adventure. You see, at the age of 20 my brother and I had more debt than credit and a 65 hour cross-country road trip was pretty much out of the question. However, there was one thing keeping our dream alive, The Halifax Club.
The Halifax Club is a place where Dennis and I could be found every waking hour of every single day for the past month and a half- it's where we work. After slaving away for the past month, I finally had enough money freed up to start saving for university next year when much to my surprise Dennis showed up at home exclaiming, 'I bought car.'
A total of $500 later and the wheels were in motion for our adventure.
Now you're probably asking yourself, 'How did they find a car for $500 that would make the trip across Canada in the middle of winter?!' Well that's a good question! The car we scored is a '95 Mercury Sable that just passed Motor Vehicle Inspection- it has a crack across the whole windshield and the speedometer doesn't work but with a little TLC we should be able to make it most of the way right?
Next, you might wonder 'what if we they don't make it to Vancouver?' Well, that's out of the question.. after all, there are alternate forms of transportation (ie. hitchhiking, train hopping, walking etc)
Hopefully by this point you're starting to see why this could make for an interesting blog- with very little money Dennis and I will have to get extremely creative with our sleeping arrangements, meals, hygiene, and not to mention transportation issues (fingers crossed)!
Please, follow along as we share our national pride and venture across our beautiful country to witness our best athletes compete for all the glory!

@ Colin Corbett- We don't have any event tickets yet! I'm sure it'll be difficult to get into most but hopefully we can find some cheap ones to outdoor events so we can truly share our Canadian pride!
